This is part of the A/Void workshop project, supported by Arts Council England and designed by girl jonah, with additional support from Baltic. The main focus during 2012 has been a series of creative meetings with small groups of artists from different backgrounds who were seeking to reflect on research and process and production.
girl jonah is an ongoing collaboration between independent artists Caroline Bowditch and Fiona Wright, known for their duet performances and choreographic investigations as disabled and non-disabled performers working together since 2004. Without necessarily being named as an ‘integrated’ dance project, they endeavour to use the work to raise the visibility of disabled artists.

A/Void  3.

workshop with girl jonah (Caroline Bowditch & Fiona Wright)

Saturday 1st & Sunday 2nd December 2012
10.30am - 4.30pm
BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art
Gateshead, Tyne & Wear, UK

A two-day workshop opportunity for disabled and non-disabled artists to reflect on their own practice with an interest in working with the body as a potential research source or actual material - whether this is in  visual arts, performance, theatre, writing, dance, music...

We will take time and take space to reflect on our art making, through cross-disciplinary approaches and exchange, working through observation and response including writing and improvisation with an emphasis on process and experimentation.

The workshop aims to be as accessible as possible and inclusive to a range of backgrounds; no formal physical training is necessary, just an open approach to your own practice and to being part of the group and this opportunity for shared professional development.

We will ask for a short proposal, describing why you want to take part in A/Void at this time - best to email this by 26th November.
