A/Void : workshop with girl jonah (Caroline Bowditch & Fiona Wright)

Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th June 2012
10.30am - 4.30pm
in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK
at BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art

How do we approach time and space in our art practice?
A weekend workshop to take time and take space to reflect on our art making, through cross-disciplinary approaches and exchange. We will work through observation and response including writing and improvisation with an emphasis on process and experimentation.

This is an opportunity for disabled and non-disabled artists with an interest in working with movement and the body as a potential research source or actual material - whether this is in performance, visual arts, theatre, writing, dance, music...

Limited places. Booking is essential. There is no cost.
We will ask for a short proposal describing why you want to take part in A/Void at this time.

The weekend aims to be as accessible as possible and inclusive to a range of backgrounds; no formal physical training is necessary, just an open approach to being part of the group and this opportunity for shared professional development.

A/Void is the first in a series of workshops designed by girl jonah, an ongoing collaboration between independent artists Caroline Bowditch and Fiona Wright, known for their duet performances and choreographic investigations as disabled and non-disabled performers working together since 2004.
